About Us

“Reluctant Hippy” Our story.

We are a family of 4 plus one. Dad, Mom, teenage son, preteen son, and a Goldendoodle dog. We (did) live a very busy lifestyle. School, errands, church, sports, family, full time stressful jobs, commuting, etc. 

About 7 years ago we decided to get into biking. But we were always so busy that we seldom got time to go or if we did go, it was looked at as a stressor versus a treat because we had to find time to squeeze it in. Then we reluctantly tried to be more health conscious with food, drinks and snacks and tried to generally lead a healthier lifestyle. This was/is kind of a challenge when you are so consumed with busyness and constantly being on the road and stressful jobs. We were all in different towns during the day. We were stressed, busy, burnt out and we all met back at the house at night to basically sleep and try to keep up with the household duties….instead of enjoying time and rest and relaxation together.

We knew in our hearts that there is more to life than this script of doing the same mundane stress day in and day out….Burning the candle at both ends. We were reluctant to think there was another way because we were comfortable with our insanity. It was what we knew… even though we weren’t present mentally.

We were very reluctant to let our jobs that we had devoted so many years to be something we possibly could change. We were reluctant to start our small business because of the unknowns and the what ifs.

We joke to ourselves that we have in some ways made a 180 degree turn on how we view and live our lives. We have decided to quit being reluctant and go all in and we trusted God for guidance. You never know if you can fly…if you don’t jump. We are (still) busy. We just are choosing to be busy on our own terms. We are Reluctant Hippy. A family offering merchandise that reflects the many aspects of our personality for you to enjoy.
